Delivering in Paris by e-bike: costs, zones and getting started

You've decided to deliver in Paris. Now you have to pick what you ride, and that choice sets your costs for the whole year. Here's what actually changes between an e-bike and a scooter in the capital, what it costs, and where the work is.

What it actually costs to park

This is the line most riders underestimate. Since September 2022, combustion-engine scooters and motorbikes pay to park on the street in Paris, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 8pm. Get it wrong and the penalty is 75 € in Zone 1 and 37,50 € in Zone 2.

Electric two-wheelers do park for free, but you have to be registered with the city for the low-emission right to apply. A bike sidesteps the question entirely: you lock it to a rack outside the restaurant, no registration, no meter, no penalty notice.

Where the scooter still wins is long distances and heavy loads. If most of your runs are inside the boulevards, the bike is the cheaper tool to keep on the road.

Speed is about the route, not the top speed

At rush hour an e-bike holds 25 km/h while traffic crawls. Cycle lanes, contraflow streets, direct routes with no detour looking for a parking space: in dense city centres the bike is often the fastest vehicle door to door. Every minute saved is another drop in the day.

Where the work is

Demand isn't only inside the périphérique. Boulogne, Levallois, Montreuil, Saint-Denis, Ivry and Vincennes have growing Uber Eats and Deliveroo volume and often fewer riders competing for it. With a removable battery running up to 8 hours, the outer ring is well within range on a single charge.

Getting started

You need three documents to rent: photo ID, proof of address less than three months old, and a bank card in your name. No SIRET number for the bike itself, though the platforms will ask you for one. Full detail in the three documents guide.

On the rental side, the Pro plan is 150 €/month with a 3-month minimum term, and if you ride for Uber Eats the Lite plan comes in at 70 €/month. Deliveroo riders get 10 € off their first month instead.
