Rent it, buy it, or lease it to own. Here's how to pick.

In Paris and Lyon, thousands of Deliveroo and Uber Eats riders are out pedalling every day. Their number one tool is the e-bike, and the hard part is picking the right model and the right deal. Rent it, buy it outright, spread the payments, lease it to own: here's the whole picture, with the actual numbers.
Option A
Rent it
From 150 €/month, everything included
Best if: you're starting out, or you want zero hassle. Servicing, accessories and breakdown cover are all in the price. Ride for Uber Eats and the Lite plan drops to 70 €/month.
Option B
Buy it
Refurbished, 1 499 € 999 € while stocks last
Best if: you ride full time and you've done the maths. Pays for itself fast. Split it into 4 interest-free instalments with Alma, or lease to own over 12 months.
The honest way to compare them is cumulative cost. Renting starts at zero and climbs every month. Buying is one payment on day one and then flat.
Based on the Pro plan at 150 €/month and a refurbished bike at 999 €. Two things the lines don't show: on the Uber Eats Lite plan at 70 €/month the crossover moves out past a year, and once you own the bike, servicing and repairs come out of your pocket.
| Plan | Price | Minimum term | Deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro Plus | 160 €/month | 1 month | 150 € |
| Pro | 150 €/month | 3 months | 150 € |
| Lite | 70 €/month | 4 months | 200 € |
The Lite plan is reserved for Uber Eats riders. If you deliver for Deliveroo, you get 10 € off your first month on Pro and Pro Plus instead, and there are separate scooter offers in Paris: check the Deliveroo page. Both offers change, so ask in store.
Every plan covers 24/7 access to your bike, the essential accessories (charger, U-lock, phone mount), free preventive servicing on punctures, brake pads and electrical checks, the MyZoomo app, and a firm promise: if it breaks down, it's repaired or replaced within 24 hours. Once your minimum term is up, you cancel with no notice and get the deposit back.
New to it? Start with the three documents you need to ride away the same day.
| Motor | 250 W, 80 Nm of torque, for hills and loaded starts |
| Drivetrain | 3-speed internal hub, very low maintenance |
| Rack capacity | Up to 25 kg, total load 110 kg |
| Battery | Removable 17 Ah, up to 8 hours, 4 hours to charge |
| On board | USB port to keep your phone charged, plus built-in GPS tracking on new bikes |
A full day's battery means you can run lunch through to the evening rush without stopping to charge. Add a second battery for 40 €/month if you ride long shifts.
If you deliver full time, buying gets cheaper than renting fairly quickly. Zoomo sells refurbished bikes, fully inspected in the workshop, at 1 499 € 999 € while stocks last, payable in 4 interest-free instalments with Alma. There's also lease-to-own over 12 months: 330 € up front, then 130 € a month for 11 months, and the bike is yours at the end for 100 €. And if you already rent a Zoomo, you can buy that exact bike.
| Where you're at | What makes sense |
|---|---|
| Riding for Uber Eats | Lite plan, 70 €/month |
| Starting out, or testing the job | Pro plan, 150 €/month |
| Riding full time, and you've done the maths | Refurbished purchase, 999 € |
| You want to own it without paying up front | Lease-to-own over 12 months |
| Already renting a Zoomo you get on with | Buy that same bike |
On a rental plan, third-party liability is included and an optional Theft Cover reduces the excess if your bike is stolen.
On a purchase, cover depends on the component and on whether the bike is new or refurbished.
| Component | New | Refurbished |
|---|---|---|
| Frame, fork and frame plate | 2 years | 1 year |
| Electrical components: battery, motor, display, lights | 2 years | 12 months |
| Drivetrain, wheels, brakes, saddle | 2 years | 3 months |
The warranty covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear. Consumables are excluded: chains, cassettes, spokes and brake pads. It applies to the original owner, with proof of purchase, and claims go through the store you bought from.
Every bike comes with a U-lock. Built-in GPS tracking and the bike recovery service are available on new bikes only, not on refurbished ones.
Specialist mechanics, spare parts, delivery accessories and straight advice. Rental, purchase, repairs, servicing: it all happens in the same place. That is the part a marketplace can't give you.
If you ride for Uber Eats, the Lite plan at 70 €/month with a 4-month minimum term. Otherwise the Pro plan at 150 €/month, or buying refurbished at 999 € if you're in it for the long run.
Zoomo commits to repairing or replacing it within 24 hours. Book the repair from the MyZoomo app, or walk into the store if it's urgent.
Yes. You already know how it rides, so it's often the smartest move. The price depends on the age of the bike, so ask in store.
No. GPS tracking and the recovery service are offered on new bikes only.
